Love is Love is a yearly event at Darden focused on promoting inclusion of the LGBT community both at Darden and in the workplace. The power of its message is its simplicity. Regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or religion, all relationships are equal.
This year, Love is Love was sponsored by Johnson & Johnson and included several events:
- First Coffee: Professor Jim Clawson and leadership from Gays, Lesbians and Allies at Darden spoke at First Coffee this morning to kick off the event, followed by a photo of Darden community members wearing the Love is Love t-shirt.
- UVA Safe Space Training: UVA’s LGBT Resource Center facilitated a discussion with the Darden community that provided information on the LGBT community and how best to be an ally.
- Marketing Panel: Three UVA alumni with experience in LGBT marketing for Johnson & Johnson, Orbitz, American Airlines and other companies led an in-depth discussion on the evolution of marketing to the LGBT population as well as the current trends and challenges in reaching this demographic.
- Case Discussion: This afternoon, Professor Peter Rodriguez will be leading a case discussion that follows a Verizon executive as she struggles with the decision of whether or not to come out to the CEO and her co-workers. For the second half of the discussion, the case’s protagonist Lisa Sherman will be joining via video conference to participate in the conversation.
