Questions from yesterday’s Weekly Wednesday Admissions Chat are included below:

Question: When will the online application be ready for applicants?

Answer: The online application should be ready to go live no later than 1 September.

Question: Why did the admissions committee decide to change the essay question this year?

Answer: We change the question every year. There are a number of reasons for that, primarily because we want to learn more about you in the context of current events, what we are facing at our school or based on the responses we received to the essay question last year.

Question: What is the class visit schedule for September and when can I register?

Answer: The class visit schedule is not available for September yet, but you can register for an Open House in mid-August. We are working on getting the class visit schedule finalized for the fall, and I expect that by the time the application goes live, we should be all set.

Question: After I visit the school, if I am offered an interview later, do I have to go to the school again for the interview, or can I do it through Skype or with a local alumnus?

Answer: If you live and/or are currently working in the U.S., you would need to come back to Darden for the interview. If you live and/or are working outside of the U.S., then you would have the option to do an interview with an alumnus/na or via Skype.

Question: Does Darden strongly recommend attending a class visit before the interview?

Answer: If you are able to travel to Darden, visiting before the interview process can be beneficial because it helps inform the application. If you can’t visit beforehand, taking advantage of any events Darden is hosting or attending in your hometown can also be very helpful. You may also want to consider participating in the variety of online events and chats that we will be hosting throughout the fall.

Question: How many JD/MBA applicants are accepted to Darden in a typical year?

Answer: There is no set number per year. One year it may only be three, the next it may be 10. It just depends on the number of qualified applicants.
