Admissions Q&A: MBA for Executives and Global MBA for Executives

Question: Do you offer an MBA in which students can continue to work full time while earning their MBA degree?

Answer: We offer two formats of our MBA that allows you to work full time – the Executive MBA (EMBA) and the Global Executive MBA (GEMBA). Both formats take about two years to complete.

Question: What does the EMBA and GEMBA class schedule typically look like?

Answer: For the EMBA program, the classes meet one weekend per month at Darden. The other meeting times are weekly online through virtual classes. For the Global EMBA program, there are six 2-week residencies scheduled throughout the program in locations around the world. This program also has virtual meeting classes weekly.

Question: can I switch to GEMBA from EMBA at any point of time?

Answer: You can not switch between programs. They are structured so that you start and graduate with the same cohort.

Question: Do these programs require a GMAT/GRE score?

Answer: Yes – you can choose to take the GMAT or the GRE. We accept either exam score.

Question: What is the last date to apply for next year’s class?

Answer: Applications can be submitted by the 15th of every month. The last deadline is 15 June.

Question: Does the EMBA and GEMBA offer on-campus recruiting?

Answer: Because you must be currently employed as a student in the program, there is no campus recruiting program. Darden does provide career development sessions and resources. Each executive MBA student is assigned a career advisor, who will work with them to identify their career goals, whether it is to get promoted within their company, switch jobs, or start a business. Darden also has an alumni career office that offers free, lifelong alumni services.
