• People + Planet = Profit: Darden Conference Ponders Rewriting the Business Equation – Darden’s Net Impact & Energy clubs will be hosting their annual conference during the week of January 31st. Three leadership speakers will share their views on sustainability including, John C. Reid, vice president of Corporate Social Responsibility for Coca-Cola; Thomas F. Farrell II, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Dominion Resources Inc., one of America’s largest energy companies; and Larry Schweiger, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation, America’s largest conservation organization, with 47 affiliates and more than 4 million members and supporters.

• Darden Graduates Lead a Revolution in Electricity  - Fast Company features Husk Power Systems, an award-winning company, started four years ago by Darden graduates Manoj Sinha and Chip Ransler (both MBA ’09), which aims to lead a “revolution in electricity.” The New York Times also blogged about the company on Jan. 11 in the posting, “A Light In India.”
• When Disaster Strikes: Darden Brings Together Different Sectors to Improve Relief Efforts – With the one-year anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti in mind, the Humanitarian/Disaster Relief Supply Chain Initiative, founded in 2009 by five academics, including Darden Professor Ed Davis, held a two-day workshop that brought together 35 humanitarian and disaster relief professionals to Darden.
