Last week, Darden’s Batten Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Institute for Business in Society hosted alumni, current and prospective students and Bay Area business leaders to hear a fascinating presentation by Darden Professors Ed Freeman and Bobby Parmar addressing issues at the intersection of ethics, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Their presentation yielded from years of thinking about how companies can practice responsible disruption — the processes, skills and tools they will need to navigate ethical challenges amid the innovation and uncertainties all around them. Their new framework is central to “the new story of business” – a revolution occurring in the way we think about business with a renewed interest in corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
Citing a number of real-world examples, Parmar and Freeman encouraged business leaders to think and act ethically, to talk about mistakes and to learn from them. To read more about their discussion, check out this Darden Report article written by Kristin Kloberdanz.
