Last week, Darden and the McIntire School of Commerce hosted UVA’s first-ever Women’s Business Forum. Focused on building awareness about graduate business education opportunities at UVA, the event welcomed undergraduate women from all majors to the Darden Grounds and featured a panel of current students from Darden’s full-time MBA and Future Year Scholars Program, McIntire’s MS in Commerce and Darden and McIntire’s joint MS in Business Analytics.

In addition to highlighting degree offerings, the program was designed to demonstrate the potential and wide applicability of a business education. As Admissions Committee member and Forté liaison noted, Haley Whitlock Gyory, noted: “If there was one clear takeaway from the evening, it is that business can mean many things – flexibility, confidence, network, optionality, etc.— to many people. And a business education is not only a way to launch a meaningful career. It is also a way to improve society.”

The event was sponsored by Forté. Dedicated to increasing female representation across the corporate spectrum, including in business schools, Forté offers programming, networking opportunities and dedicated scholarships for women. Darden has been a proud Forté sponsor since the organization’s inception.
