In a special episode of the podcast, members of Darden’s Admissions

Committee and longtime friends of the podcast, Senior Director of Admissions Whitney Kestner, Director of Admissions Catie Yeilding and Senior Director of Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Recruiting Christian West. The team shared tips for candidates researching target MBA programs who want to get a better feel for the community they hope to join.

West, Yeilding, Kestner and podcast host Brett Twitty offered insights and strategies for leveraging virtual events, social media, current students and alumni. Admissions has events to meet everyone where they are in their process — from those just starting out and researching schools to those who are ready to drill down to a specific section of the application.

Most Admissions events will continued to be offered virtually, and this episode is essential listening for any prospective student considering any of UVA Darden’s MBA formats.

We have a wide range of events on the calendar, and that’s something that our team has enjoyed thinking about — how can we creatively and virtually connect with our prospective students? Now, being on virtual platforms, we’re able to connect with people all over the world, which has been absolutely delightful.

- Whitney Kestner, Senior Director of Admissions

One of the unique things about our events starting in 2020 is that by providing so many different virtual opportunities, we saw students engaging with us in very different ways. We have a global program here at Darden across our MBA formats, and students are coming to us from anywhere and everywhere around the globe. By having these virtual events, they can come to us wherever they are. It’s also a more efficient process for prospective students to engage with us. They can hop on a coffee chat during their lunch break at work, pop on a webinar from home while with their families, so it really has provided a way for prospective students to connect with us while also managing whatever responsibilities they already have going on in their daily lives.

- Christian West, Senior Director of Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Recruiting
