How to Demonstrate “Darden Fit” in Your Application

One of the pre-submitted registrant questions for this student panel asked about the best way to convey “Darden Fit” to the Admissions Committee. The panelists agree that authenticity and an eagerness to be at Darden, specifically, is the way to go.

Henry Goldsmith shared, “Darden is not looking for one kind of person. What they are looking for is, ‘How are you going to integrate into the community here?’ Because that’s so important.”

Managing the Standardized Test Requirement

UVA Darden requires an official standardized test score or test waiver for your application to be considered complete.

Daniel Eghdami cites the ability to take the GMAT multiple times as one of the reasons he was a successful Round 3 applicant: “For [test] prep, it was mostly about building on an analytical background. I was in patient care before Darden and I had a lot of experience working with people and a lot of the interpersonal communication skills I felt confident about, but math and test-taking was what I had to work on.”

Matriculating on a Shorter Timeline

Inevitably, students who apply in Round 3 have the shortest timeframe to prepare to move to Charlottesville to start the program in August (July for international students).

All four panelists suggest looking for housing — whether that’s calling various apartment complexes or being active in the student housing WhatsApp group — as soon as you receive your admissions decision.

Your story is uniquely your own…Why do you specifically see yourself in this community? Darden is unique in that community is such a facet and center of our lives here.”

- Ashley Allen (Class of 2027)
