A Message From Darden Admissions
Darden welcomed Willie Green as Darden’s Senior Assistant Dean for Admissions this spring ahead of the new application cycle. In this role, Green leads admissions strategy across Darden’s degree programs, including the Full-Time MBA program in Charlottesville.
Green brings deep experience in graduate admissions, talent recruitment, enrollment strategy and leadership development. His background spans higher education and global talent work, giving him a strong perspective on what it means to identify and support future business leaders.
As the new application cycle begins, Green and the Darden Admissions team look forward to meeting prospective students and sharing more about the exceptional Darden MBA experience. The team is eager to help candidates put forth a strong application package with admissions tips and insights.

What You Need to Know
The 2026-27 application cycle will include several updates designed to help applicants share a fuller picture of who they are and why Darden is the right program for their MBA journey. Relationships are central to the Darden experience, and the team seeks to get to know candidates through the process.
New Video Essay
This year, applicants will complete a video essay as part of the Full-Time MBA application. The video essay component will give candidates an additional way to share their voice and communication style with the Admissions Committee while also showing their critical thinking skills.
At Darden, the classroom is highly interactive. Students learn through discussion, debate, preparation, reflection and active engagement with their peers. The video essays are intended to complement the written application and help the Admissions Committee learn more about how applicants think, communicate and engage with ideas.

Expanded Spring Application Deadlines
For the 2026-27 cycle, Darden is layering in spring application deadlines in March, April and May, giving prospective students more flexibility later in the admissions cycle. This applicant-friendly approach reflects that many well-qualified candidates enter the process later in the year. More deadline options mean more opportunities to apply, shorter decision timelines and more time for admitted students to prepare for Darden.
