Who was an influential person in your decision to attend Darden?

Ask any current student in the Executive or Part-Time MBA programs, and they will name Brett Twitty.

Meet Brett Twitty

As the Managing Director of Admissions & Strategic Initiatives Professional Degree Programs, Brett Twitty is committed to bringing quality students to Darden. Originally from North Carolina, his background as a lawyer informs how he works with working professionals wanting to earn an MBA.

Ask Twitty about anything arts related and he will happily jump into conversations about movies, music and books. He is an avid reader, and even co-taught the ‘Business Ethics Through Literature’ course with Greg Fairchild, CEO of UVA | Northern Virginia.

After working in admissions and as the Dean of Students at Washington & Lee University, he knew he wanted to continue growing. When a position opened at Darden, Twitty said he was excited about the role and the opportunity to work closely with a new population. Admissions for Darden’s Professional Degree Programs isn’t just evaluating applications. Twitty likes that there is a counseling element.

“I like helping students through this decision. It’s fair to say that when you are looking to do work, school and life all at the same time, you have a lot to consider and it takes time,” he said.

The more you embrace what makes you uniquely you, the stronger your application will be, the more authentic your application will be.

Application Advice

Brett’s advice to prospective students applying to the Part-Time or Executive MBA programs is that “your greatest strength is your uniqueness.” Share your “why” with Admissions so they better understand what motivates you. Each class is built for a case method experience. The more difference there is in the classroom, the richer the discussions are.

Darden is a global business school, bringing together people from all over the world and he has even had the chance to join a Global Residency in Brazil. The international components of the Executive and Part-Time MBA programs are an integral part of the experience.
