Today the Darden Center for Global Initiatives launched the global academic programs available to our full-time MBA students this year. We have eight exciting Global Business Experiences (GBEs) in a wide range of countries around the world. This year many of the GBE’s include some hands-on consulting engagements for students. We also are glad to have GBEs to China and Spain back this March.
In March we will offer the following GBEs to both First Year and Second Year students:
BRAZIL with faculty lead Marc Modica: students will spend the week in Salvador da Bahia, consulting on-site with Brazilian organizations.
SOUTH AFRICA with faculty lead Mary Margaret Frank: students will examine the lessons learned from South Africa on the need for cooperation between the public and private sectors to grow an economy.
CHINA with faculty lead Marc Lipson: students will explore the Chinese culture and business practices in Shanghai by engaging in various company visits and cultural experiences
SPAIN with faculty lead Jeanne Liedtka: students will apply the theme of “Strategy as Design” to the unique artists and architecture of Barcelona and see how it applies to various business environments
TURKEY with faculty lead Marc Johnson: students will investigate Istanbul’s’ unique position of being in the crossroads of where East meets West and take a close look at the business of growth in Turkey
GBEs available in May for First Year students include:
ARGENTINA with faculty lead Jon Megibow: students will spend the week on-site in Mendoza, the heart of Argentina’s wine-making region, consulting with small to mid-sized Argentine wine firms.
ISRAEL with faculty lead Gal Raz: students will be exploring entrepreneurship and innovation across Israel and working as consulting teams for Israeli entrepreneurs.
SWEDEN with faculty lead Andrea Larson: students will investigate the intersection of entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability in Sweden and Scandinavia by consulting with Swedish firms.

Global Field Electives (GFEs):
Second Year students will also have Global Field Elective (GFEs) opportunities this fall. So far we engagements with organizations in Sweden, Tunisia and South Africa consulting for organizations in technology, healthcare and higher education.
