New Charlottesville Boutique Hotel to Open in Spring 2023

Yesterday, the University of Virginia Darden School Foundation and Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, part of the IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle Collection, announced a groundbreaking partnership through which Kimpton will open its first hotel in a university setting at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in Charlottesville.

An artist’s rendering envisions the future boutique hotel on Darden Grounds.

The five-story boutique hotel is set to open in spring 2023, and will be surrounded by a five-acre botanical garden and arboretum. With a stunning exterior, sophisticated guest rooms, a lively taproom, a bountiful outdoor arboretum and gardens, and sustainable infrastructure, this unique new hotel will be open in C’ville as a community gathering place in just about one year!

The new boutique hotel will feature state-of-the-art meeting and event spaces among its many amenities. Saunders Hall is visible in the background of the artist’s rendering.

In a letter to the Darden community this week, Dean Scott Beardsley shared, “The hotel will support Darden’s academic mission as a setting for Executive Education & Lifelong Learning offerings; Executive MBA, Part-Time MBA and MSBA residencies; Full-Time MBA student events; faculty conferences and symposia; and other events. The hotel will also serve as a hub for the Darden community, a place where students, faculty and staff can meet, eat and socialize together, and a destination that will make our alumni and families proud to visit. Everyone from the Darden, UVA and local communities will be welcome, and the property will be a great place to stay, dine or host an event, whether corporate or social. For the community of Charlottesville, the hotel will open up new possibilities for residents and visitors.”
