Last weekend, the Admissions DEI team here at Darden proudly hosted a new hybrid Women’s Admissions Symposium on grounds in Charlottesville. Prospective students enjoyed networking, panels, keynotes and time to make authentic connections while learning about the Darden community and the ways it supports women.

Students had the chance to experience a mock learning team, get to know Darden’s affinity clubs, learn about the Women@Darden initiative and experience the beauty of fall on grounds. Friday morning kicked off the conference with a lively Women in Entrepreneurship panel featuring founders Cecilia Rios Murrieta (Class of 2022), Sonia Hounsell (Class of 1999) and Gretchen Pace (Class of 2022), moderated by second-year founder Ellie Jamison.

Sonia Hounsell is the Co-Founder & Co-CEO at FunkkOFF!® and Shark Tank Alumnae, and will be returning to Darden this December for a Q&A with Dawna Clarke.

Register for that event here.

The day also included student and alumnae panels, lunch with remarks from Interim Dean Jeanne Leidtka and concluded with a networking reception.

The Graduate Women in Business student organization hosted a panel lead by Gheed Saeed, Anika Kempe, Sydney Bock, Fehintoluwa Ibiloye, Alison Neveu, Khushboo Daiya and Ali Gendron. They shared their experiences at Darden, giving more insight to the community and how their student organization supports women in business.
