Basketball mania has descended upon Charlottesville! We hope you will be tuned in tonight at 9:20 pm EDT as the ‘Hoos take on Texas Tech in the final game of the NCAA Tournament.
And the excitement doesn’t end there. Darden’s Center for Global Initiatives (CGI) recently unveiled the 30 winning photographs from the Darden Art (DART) Project.
The Darden Art Project (DART) is an initiative that highlights the Darden community’s global experiences. Students, alumni, faculty and staff may submit photographs of places and people from all over the world. After being displayed in the Darden classroom building and Café 67 for one year, the photographs are sold and proceeds are donated to a charity chosen by the Graduate Women in Business (GWIB), whose members manage the sale process. This year, proceeds will be donated to the Shelter for Help in Emergency (SHE).
Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing select photos from this year’s winners and the stories behind the photos here on the blog. Today, we kick off the series with a photograph from Second Year student, Nii-Lante Lamptey (EMBA 2019). Fun fact: Nii and his classmates are in Charlottesville this week for Leadership Residency 2, their last academic activity before graduation in May.
Check out the photo above. Here are Nii’s comments:
“Taken November 2018 at the Sheik Zayed Mosque in Abhu Dhabi, UAE. This picture was captured during a tour of the mosque in Abu Dhabi as part of an extended trip to the UAE with some of our classmates after our global residency in India. This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip – no inspiration, just admiring the great architecture/scenic view of the mosque.”
Editor’s Note: Read more about our Class of 2019’s global residency in India. Global residencies are week-long global trips that are offered every three to four months in the first sixteen months of our 21-month Executive MBA Program. Executive MBA (EMBA) format students participate in one (and up to two – space permitting) of the four trips, while Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) format students participate in all four trips. For our Class of 2019, the global residency locations were South Africa (Q2), China (Q4), Western Europe (Q6) and India (Q8).
